It's been a while, but not much as gone on in the past month after I stopped racing. Ohio is having its worst winter weather since I can remember so I have not been riding too much. There were a few days when the weather was decent and got some hours in, but mostly its been in the pain cave.
I honestly have not trained as much as I had planned originally in December, but I feel that is ok. I raced 50 races last year, and raced cross from September to December. I can use the mental and physical break. But I do need to get it into gear sooner than later, as my first major race, Cohutta 100, is coming up quick in two months. Although I will treat it more as training, I still need to get hours in on the saddle, and lots of it.
Besides training (or lack thereof), I've been pretty busy with school, organizing a race, and getting my wheel business afloat. School, is pretty much self explanatory. I'm actually trying to graduate right now so I'm taking school semi-serious. It kinda sucks because the classes are hard and I actually have to study. No more sitting through class, half asleep, then passing the class.
Next is the race I'm putting on. I'm promoting the OU collegiate race. It was kind of sprung upon me so I've been scrambling getting things done. Permit application is a week from Friday so I need to get preliminary things sorted out by then. Putting on a race is a PITA. Doing a preliminary budget, the break even point is pretty high and worries me a little. Unfortunately, we are capped by the conference on how much we can charge entry fee so it makes things tight. Luckily I do not need to pay out prizes, if we did, it would be impossible.
Now my wheel business. I've had this idea for while and has sort of been running underground for a while. But now I want to make it big. The gist of it is, a custom wheel house like wheelbuilder.com. I don't intend to turn into a major player overnight but would like to slowly grow and have some sort of presence in the market. I've been building wheels for years now and want to share my skills to everyone out there.
Thats it for now. Hopefully next time I can write about riding bikes.

I'm with you there, Katsu. Absolutely tired of this snow and winter. I'd love to be able to get out on the roads again soon, but with all the cinders/salt they've been putting out lately, some of the corners may be like riding on ball bearings. Maybe March will bring some better riding conditions.
